The department of political science came into existence with the inception of the Government Girls PG College, Bindki, Fatehpur in the 1996. The department has 6/8 semester (3/4 Years) Undergraduate and 4 Semester (two-year) Post Graduate programme. program. Courses offered by the department covers a broad range of specialization i.e. Political Theory, Political Ideologies, Political Thought, Comparative Politics, International Politics, International Law, Foreign Policy, Public Administration, Regional Politics, Social movements in India and Human Rights. The department is committed to give directions to the teaching methods and research areas in the discipline. The department has two permanent and well qualified faculties. Both have doctoral degree from CSJMU Kanpur and JNU respectively. They have good teaching and research skill and contributed a lotto the field of academics. To promote and orient students towards research, the department has been regularly organising national and international conferences along with special invited lectures. As a result of continuous effort, presently the department has four students registered under PhD programme.
Faculty members of the Department have published over 80 research papers, written/edited over 40 books, and published more than 30 books chapters. Research papers appeared in reputed Journals of the discipline such as India Quarterly, China Report, Jadavpur Journal of International Relations, World Affairs, and Indian Journal of Political Science. Moreover, faculty members have contributed more than 7 Units for Graduate and Post Graduate courses of Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. One department member has been granted a book project titled “India’s Counter-terrorism Diplomacy” by the Indian Council of World Affairs, New Delhi. Dr Arvind Shukla is Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Advance Research in Multidisciplinary Sciences and ldealistic Journal of Advanced Research in Progressive Spectrums (IJARPS) and Dr Vikash Chandra is editorial member of aforementioned journals along with Research Stream, a Bi-Annual, open access, peer reviewed (Refereed) Journal.
In addition to departmental responsibilities, department members also perform administrative responsibilities such as NAAC, IQAC, RUSA, Hostel, Examination, Online Admission and Website, and, last but not least, College Magazine.

- The primary mission of the department of political science is to create awareness and educate students about political community and political system.
- To develop ability to make the scientific inquiry into the political phenomenon and political questions.
- To emphasize upon understanding and theorizing various political, economic and social problems and offer their solutions.
- To acquaint the students to the solutions finding process regarding various political, social, ethical and cultural problems.
- To promote research in the emerging areas of political science and international relations.
- To conceive the interdisciplinary interaction which the field is related with and come up with original solutions.
